Portable Spectrum Analyzer Designed for Scalar Network and Spectrum Analysis

Aeroflex's 9102 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer is a multifunction instrument designed for lab and field applications concerning scalar network and spectrum analysis, including cable and antenna measurements and EMC pre-qualification tests. The basic 9102 has a frequency range of 100 kHz to 4 GHz and a resolution bandwidth (RBW) of an exceptional 1 kHz. An optional frequency extension allows measurements up to 7.5 GHz. The 9102 is small in size and weight, with a large, bright display and easy-to-use menu structure.

Portable, full-featured spectrum analyzer ranging from 100 kHz to 4 GHz (or optionally 7.5 GHz)

• VSWR and DTF measurements supporting antenna installation and verification (option)
• Tracking generator option enables cable measurements in the field
• Radiation measurements of base stations and broadcast stations (EMF option)
• Prequalification for EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) tests
• Displayed average noise level at -117 dBm
• Dynamic range of 70 dB
• Exceptional 1 kHz resolution bandwidth (RBW)
• VSWR, DTF, EMF measurement options
• Scalar network analysis (amplifier gain over frequency or filter characteristics) and antenna measurements
• Prequalification for EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) tests

Options Provide Specific Solutions and Applications

The 9102 offers a vast range of options developed for specific applications. For example, a tracking generator option supporting cable measurements, and a reflection measurement option are available. The flexibility these options provide ensures that the 9102 is an affordable solution, not one that includes unneeded, more expensive features.

Summary of New Features

The 8 GHz tracking generator covers the frequency range from 100 kHz to 8 GHz and output level control of 0 to -20 dBm with 0.5 dB resolution - the finest in its class. This provides additional capability and flexibility when testing the frequency response and performance limits of components and sub-assemblies across all wireless bands and the microwave C-band.

Enhanced AM and FM demod function now covers the full audio band from 1 Hz to 30 kHz ensuring its applicability in real-world measurement scenarios.

The internal pre-selector option covers the CISPR A and B bands and complements the EMI Measurement suite option with enhanced measurement performance in the EMC arena. A selection of narrow-band filters are automatically enabled according to the set frequency. These remove large unwanted external signals at higher or lower frequencies which could otherwise overload the input and affect the dynamic range of the measurements.
